Yes one or two lamps, I was just wondering if it had to be 10A because that's what the protection on the circuit is - read something about all devices having to be rated for the circuit rating.I presume you won't be switching over 10 amps with it? 1 or 2 lights maybe?
The 6 amp will be fine.
It's a dummy dimmer.A 6 amp type B MCB will allow 30 amps before the magnetic part trips, it will in fullness of time trip at 6 amp with the thermal part, but I found with tungsten lamps if on failing you got ionisation it seemed to take the dimmer switch with it every time.
I suspect, even with a 1 amp fuse, it would still take out the dimmer, so no point in worrying about it.
It means that the "spindle" is offset - not quite on the "center line" but slightly to one side. Thanks - I found one described below.
What does offset spindle mean ?
Why not just replace the whole thing with a new switch and faceplate?Do I need to match the faceplate with the switch module or are different brands interchangeable?
BG DUMMY DIMMER SWITCH 2 WAY PUSH ON/OFF, 8A OFFSET SPINDLE

Have a look at your existing dimmer module and see if it is an offset or symmetrical design and buy the switch module to match. You will use the existing faceplate and push button. It really isnt that difficult.Do I need to match the faceplate with the switch module or are different brands interchangeable?
