Dust allergy during building work?

You can buy zippable doorways which can be used in doorways, they are pretty good

Someone worried about dust is likely to be of the complainey persuasion, so will get a 2x priced quote to try and make them find someone else, if not to hopefully cover the many issues and needs that will undoubtedly arise.

Yes, unreasonable customers always get a "kick me out" quote.
Trouble is that some accept it!
I tried to price myself out of an extension build by giving an extortionate price, enough to build 3 extensions.
Unfortunately the woman accepted.
When we got to kitchen fitting stage I told her to get it delivered and she said they wouldn't until I paid them (?!?!)
I showed her the quote clearly stating that kitchen was not included and she knew this from day 1, especially because she wanted to buy from some robbers in Richmond who sell howdens kitchens at inflated prices.
She went ballistic and said she didn't have another £30k to buy the kitchen.
Told her to call me back when she did so I would fit it.
The husband called me next day and told me to order from howdens, same kitchen.
She never spoke to me again.

You should have bought a better mask

Lol, true.
Buy a longer hoover pipe and put the hoover outside

That's a really good idea - will give it a whirl if I can find one :)
Use a longer handled brush, so youre not in the cloud, wet the dust before you sweep it up and don't move the brush quickly. Use a vacuum cleaner instead

Tried it - longer handle honestly didn't help.
Erk, sounds quite wastefu lof water. Might have been better to leave it soaking in a tub?
True, this is a good idea for a broom. I was using a dustpan and brush so it didn't take much to get it soggy in the sink.

First one I saw. Doesn't have to screw onto your hoover, you can usually just take your existing pipe and stick the nozzle in the end of the new pipe, maybe tape around the end of the old nozzle to thicken it up if it needs. It does restrict the bore slightly at that point so if it blocks that's where you'll find it..

Though for the price of one of those John you can get 2 of these for 18m and still have some spare cash :)

This here looks the same as your first but a bit cheaper..

just be aware that your suction power will reduce quite dramatically with a long hose due to friction losses.

But it is an advantage to have the vac outside the room to reduce dust drift within the house

Would you care to put some numbers and science behind that, rather than leaving it at a somewhat sensational but unqualified "quite dramatically" ?

Thankyou @mattylad - we do this at work, but our engineers do the calcs, not me! That example sounds about right to me.

If using the vac outside then remove the filter and/or HEPA filters to improve the suction quite er... dramatically!

You could replace them again after, but you'll probably find that they're minging and pretty much blocking it so need renewing instead.
