Dust allergy during building work?

If using the vac outside then remove the filter and/or HEPA filters to improve the suction quite er... dramatically!

You could replace them again after, but you'll probably find that they're minging and pretty much blocking it so need renewing instead.
I use a bag as well as the filter. The bag catches most of the particles and delays clogging of the filter.

Fleece bags are particularly good but are more expensive than paper ones.

Removing the filters and bag is likely to damage the motor and the fan bearing.

Don't remove the bag, obviously!

The bag is before the motor, the filters are after. Keep the bag (as should be obvious to anyone with common sense!), get rid of the filters. They're only there to get rid of the fine dust, both from the room and from the motor brushes, before spraying it into the room. As you're blowing outside you don't care, it will run much better without them. Even clean filters reduce the suction lots. But many people never check them, they're often clogged to the point that they pretty much block the airflow completely.
