Pointlessly changed £1.50 I spent into £150 someone thought the item was worth to them just the once - but that`s more than I get out of this miserable forumIt's the pointlessness of it all.

Only the Squier Affinity range use basswood for tele's. Most of the high end are ash.
Either way there is nothing special about that Ibanez. It's there for wanabee Vai idiots to play air guitar with.
If it were any good they'd use it on their USA Standards - but they don't.
It's what we call Lime and the Yanks call Linden. Cheap, soft and unpopular.

Sorry Joe but you are totally wrong....unpopular? How many Japansese Fenders do you think have been made in total and exported to Europe and the US? the majority of these are Basswood, its only recently they changes to Alder to try to keep inline with US Fender....its easily available in Asia.
Fender stopped exporting from Japan because the Japanese build quality was better than that of the US!
Why do you think in the past, many pro guitarists went with Japanese Fenders instead of US Fenders. Vintage US Fenders are not as sought after as a Vintage Japanese Fender.....which where made from Basswood
I own both USA and Jap strats. The USA is far better
I've got a 61 reissue, had it about 15 years. just refretted it but not levelled and dressed them yet. Pickups are pretty dire mind.
I don't know about guitars, but very occawsionally I have bought (or sold something at an amazingly low price, because it only got about one bidder. This is particularly common if it is very big and heavy, so postage would be costly, or if the seller stipulates "collection only" and it happens to be within reach of one of my journeys.
Sometimes it is because the silly seller has spelt the name of his item wrong Occasionally I tell them.
I must admit, the Gibson " Custom " guitars are actually machine made today (as are all Gibson guitars). Only difference between Custom and standard are,,,, Someone goes along the production line and takes a few unfinished guitars off,,,, walks through to the custom shop and then others finish them.
Apart from the "Hand Finishing," they are no different to any Gibson axe.
And people pay thousands for these????????
Quite true, although they do use higher spec hardware and more expensive wood

I'll accept the fact that they use better hardware, but the more expensive wood??
Some guy just walks along picking up body's and necks off the production line. I doubt whether he's trained to spot the difference between Brazilian or African Mahogany.
If asked he'd probably say " Wood is just wood , Ain't that a fact man."

I Know Gibson use Ebony fretboards and solid Mahogony body for customs, standards is usually Maple fretboards and a Maple/Mahogony mix for the body.
But you are right, wood is wood
