I am trying to replace two old electric light sockets with new ones the new sockets are the same - see photo attached - it has terminals labelled COM1 COM2 L11 L12 L21 L22.

The old sockets terminal are both labelled L1 L2 L3 two of each. The wiring configuration in both of the old sockets is different to the other. See photos.

Can anyone assist in guiding me as to which wires from the old sockets go into which terminals in the new sockets. Assistance greatly appreciated.

The switch plate should be earthed. There are no earth conductors visible in your pics ,are they present in the mounting box ?

Thank you yes they are earthed in the mounting box. Are you able to advise on the second older switch unit? See pic below
