It's not incomentence to assure oneself of the correct decision. The UK went with the AZ vaccine while it was still in clinical trials. EU waited untilt he clinical trials had been complered.

Diplomacy was not a factor in the original stoppage, nor in the release of the lorries.

I believe preliminary results were obtained in November.

As I understand it all may have forked out very early on. Hence lots of different ones as they had no idea which ones would succeed. Lab rats again in some ways as one in some way or the other might prove to have advantages. Then likely supply problems. Personally I do feel that there may have been some mileage in the producers thinking and investigating higher volumes earlier on. It would need investment and failure in producing an end product would result in a loss.

Really this is another example of the covid mire. Not prepared as no one has ever needed to produce so much or so quickly and contracts have been signed. None were approved when they were. Uk's get out may well be just that they were using it.

The German Pfizer AZ thing according to the media is down to testing. It seems not enough old AZ test subjects caught covid. It seems our response is yes but the antibody levels produced in older people were the ~same as younger. The media think Germany's reaction may be a bit nationalistic as it was developed in Germany. That fits as a lot of German people have been bought up to believe their stuff is the best. That doesn't inspire me but as I am getting one I hope it is this time.

Why doesn't AZ publish its contract with the EU, it could sort out who is right and who is wrong.
Of course being a commercial contract it could just be fodder for contract lawyers to argue about forever.

Very good point, the EU is calling on AZ to publish their copy, maybe there is a confidentiality clause which prohibits release to the public without the consent of both parties.
