EU unhappy with astrazeneca

Interesting interview with a european reporter on R5L this morning.

He said that, basically, health in the EU was always taken care of at a national level.
The French, Germans, Spanish et al set up their roll - out infrastructure (logistics, centres, refrigeration, vaccinators, etc), in anticipation of the vaccine.

But the EU took over the procurement and approval, dicked about, and didn't deliver.

He said that the individual states are well - pizzed at the Commission , and are looking for heads to roll.

Von de Leyen doesn't want to be seen to be the person who ballsed - up the vaccine roll-out, (in Notchy's terminology, "own it" ;)), so is looking to deflect the blame onto whatever she can.

Anyone read C J Sansom's Dominion?
It's an alternative history fiction, based on appeasement with Germany immediately prior to WW2.

There's no shortage of opinions. It's the same with any political process; plenty of opinions.

Numbers vary according to where you look. One for instance when Russia pushed them back was 6m troops against 2m and enough tanks and mostly motorised guns to space them rather closely over a very long front. Early on the UK was sending them equipment. They are reckoned to have had way more casualties than any other country. Might be down to when Germany invaded them which according to some Stalin expected and the pact was a short term measure to delay war.

One of the tanks is famous. They welded them all up as usual and didn't finish off the joints. Might have been a feature of all of their gear.

There was a documentary fairly recently on the History channel that showed how WWII was won. Just the nuts and bolts of it. Out producing the enemy. When they are surpassed things start to turn. It put the result of the Battle of Britain down to this effect. Once air supremacy is gained invasion becomes rather tricky. Hitlers answer was the V2 but the production facility was taken out with bombs.

I read about the Napoleonic wars recently. Fiction based on research. ;) I like this sort of book. It sounds like Russia played it's part in that as well and Nappy made the same mistake when he invaded Russia. Russia just withdrew, stretched their supply lines, allowed the winter to do it's work and then mopped them up.

Looks like Von de Leyen is coming under increasing pressure to resign from inside the EU. Will be interesting to see where this goes.

During two phone calls just 30 minutes apart, the Prime Minister made European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen ditch plans to stop 3.5 million doses of the Pfizer jab from reaching the UK from a factory in Belgium and abandon the 'nuclear option' of imposing a hard border on Northern Ireland to prevent them reaching the UK.

Here we go again. The reported had telepathic abilities so knew what she planned and they never intended to place a hard boarder in Ireland anyway.

So you take USA based news tripe that is totally different to what has been reported here and regard it as fact basically because it fits in with some of your other perceptions all of which are warped one way.

What "opinions" that I reported do you dispute?
You're creating a strawman argument. I never disputed anything, I merely remarked, "It's the opinion of the reporter. There's plenty of them about."
You choose whichever one you like and post it up as the gospel according to whatever suits your viewpoint.
There's plenty to choose from, from far-right viewpoints, all the way through the spectrum to far-left opinions, and probably a plethora of other aspects that I haven't mentioned.

Not to mention the fantasies dreamt up by fillyboy and lower.
And all the time diverting attention away from the horrific consequences of the UK's results of BJ's shambles.

DIVERT alert again!

Quite apart from someone reporting a fact doesn't make it an opinion (it remains a fact (y)), do you agree with the "opinions" posted then ?

You're absolutely right as usual John, spot on the money. Everyone in the EU has been vaccinated while the world stands back and looks on in admiration at their diplomacy and empathetic approach to other nations. Fuking idiot.
