Evolution part II

The notion that the biggest, fittest, healthiest xxxxxxx (i.e. any creature) get's first dibs on the females, and therefore the next generation carry on those 'big/fit/healthy' characteristics... etc... is a sound notion

Alternatively, a pair of xxxxxxxx's who were smart enough to sneak off and mate somewhere out of sight of the biggest, fittest, healthiest xxxxxxx might just come out on top.

But what's rarely mentioned is the fact (well i believe it to be a fact) that evolution is about birth anomolies.

I thought that was the accepted theory. Evolution proceeds by a series of mistakes. Most will lead nowhere but, just occasionally, some mistake will confer an advantage.

It should be called 'Survival of the best suited'. It doesn't mean fittest as in running and turning somersaults.
And it doesn't apply to humans. In human terms survival of the devious and deceitful would be closer to the truth.

I think in this day and age, it's survival of the ones with the most money.

The world is made up of manipulator's,creator's,conformist's and ne'erdowell's how do we evolve from here?

Giraffes grew long necks to get to the vegetation high up so they'd survive

that's why low grazers such as sheep cows and horses died out..............

Evolution biggest fairy tale of all

There a number of theories regarding giraffes and their necks.
QI aired a theory that it was to see predators from further away. This makes sense, as some of the other ideas have problems. However, its only one theory.

Evolution does not always come up with the same solution for the same apparent problem, and so while it may be that it is so they can feed from more tree branches, there are animals (such as goats) who can climb said trees to reach the branches.

Here are some of the other theories:

Evolution fits with so many different branches of science, it amazes me how people still disagree with it. But when someone invests emotion into an idea, they are blind to the contradicting evidence.

That's exactly evolution in a nut shell. Those with the most money are more likely to reproduce and educate their offspring to make even more money. Or in the case of The Hilton dynasty. reproduce idiots who reproduce idiots and eventually die out. (Oh Maybe there is a God)

Goats can climb trees? I suppose those sharp claws give them an advantage!

That's an interesting link (for a change).

"Other theories" !!

Oh dear Oh dear there is no evidence for evolution, adaptation and variations of a theme are one thing evolution is another.

A single cell is far more complex than Darwin could have ever guessed
scanning electron microscopes have revealed a simple cell is not simple
but incredibly complex Darwin was unaware of this he assumed as things got smaller they were simpler....they aren't !

To assume a "simple" life could have evolved and also had the ability to reproduce from the start is the biggest fairy tale of all, even getting the correct amino acids .....to come together alone .......tosh !

One thing that has always flummoxed me is that birds evolved from dinosaurs. Dinosaurs were cold blooded and birds are warm blooded - when and how did they swap from cold to warm blooded?
