The BBC has been accused of “misrepresenting” the risk of Covid in order to increase public support for lockdowns in Scotland by a top scientist.

Professor Mark Woolhouse, a prominent epidemiologist and government adviser, blasted the BBC for having “repeatedly reported rare deaths or illnesses among healthy adults as if they were the norm”.
He said that the virus was far more prevalent in older generations, with the risk of dying from the disease being 10,000 times higher in over-75s than the under-15s.

Woolhouse said that the BBC’s coverage, which frequently claimed that “we are all at risk", was “misleading impressions” of the seriousness of Covid.
He cited a briefing in March 2020 as evidence. The report, created by a sub-group of the UK Government’s Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies, focused on the public’s reaction and behaviour to the virus.

It stated that “a substantial number of people still do not feel sufficiently personally threatened; it could be that they are reassured by the low death rate in their demographic group... the perceived level of personal threat needs to be increased among those who are complacent, using hard-hitting emotional messaging”.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, shame it took an enquiry before his views came out.

He is also talking about things which happened very early on, even before the first lockdown. I don't think anybody knew everything then.

The UK COVID Inquiry is currently sitting in Edinburgh. Professor Mark Woolhouse told the hearing he "didn't understand the Scottish government's strategy over the summer of 2020".

I really really don’t understand why people in professional careers like heating / gas engineers which require a good level diagnostic skill are unable to research the pandemic in the same way.

What are you trying to achieve?

What are YOU trying to achieve, seems to me that it is to boost trust in the conservative government and pharmaceutical companies- who's very existence is predicated on profit. Do you not have any questions on how all of this panned out - no questions on the revolving door from regulators to executives in pharmaceutical companies. Can you not -- did you not -- could you not smell ANYTHING !. Those who did not want THIS vax could smell something and had questions - they are not murderers covidiodiots and all the other tropes some people maintain.
Do you trust implicitly every thing you are and were told by your Borris lead government. --- Yeh yeh you trust the science but the Gov science advisers have come out in the enquiry saying they did not agree with what the gov were saying and did not advise them this /that or the other.
So this is not just about you but all the others who it seems will go to their coincidental heart attack graves defending. --- Why - what are you trying to achieve.
Some of us could see - could smell that rat - had a feeling we were not being properly informed about everything - were being controlled by gov "nudge" units and worse. Its not nut jobs - its not anti vexers its just healthy people with questions not trusting the Gov.
What is your skin in the game - are you a conservative supporter - do you and the others have shares in the pharma industry. What are you hiding - why are yo defending the Gov. Why are you doing their dirty, dodgy work for them.
