Extending double socket

In the box with the blanking plate i have separated the 2 black wires.
This was done when i plugged a lamp into the double socket.
The lamp still works.
So with these 2 black wires separated & the lamp still working tells us that these 2 sockets are not connected to each other.
I assume that is correct ?
That is correct.

So now to put a new double socket in this room can i join my new length of wire "5 meters" into the same double socket connections.
This then means leaving the item with the blanking plate untouched.
Probably not. It appears to be a spur so no more sockets are allowed (unless you fit a Fused Connection Unit before the existing socket).
Is there a socket on the other side of the wall to which it might be connected?
You could just have a plug on your new 5m. cable and plug it into the socket.

The blank plate might be able to have a socket fitted instead plus another cable to a new socket, BUT you will need to get an electrician to determine what the situation is and if it will be safe.

Ok
So for now we will forget this socket with the blanking plate.

The wires go under the floor & i am unable to then do anything so my only option now is to fit a double socket on my other wall & put a plug on the wire & then plug into this double socket.

What wire do i then need to purchase so i can connect it to the double socket & 3 pin plug

Thanks but i dont like the end result.

I want to put a double back box & socket on the wall where the other end will have a plug on it.

Just paid online for the wire so i will contact them and change it.

Can you advise on this please.

Old light switch had L1 L2 on the back of it.
Red wire was L1
Black wire was L2
The earth wire was connected to the metal box in the wall.

I am now changing this for a dimmer switch, like in photo supplied.
There is L1 L2 & a wavy line symbol

Do i wire this dimmer switch like so,
Red wire in the wavy line symbol & my Black wire in the L1
