U.S Intelligence reckons up to 500,000 killed on both sides, up to now. More Russians due to their 'run-at-'em and yell' like hell tactics, but since we're not doing a Vietnam body count i'd say the stalemate will go on into another year at this rate. War is Hel.
Any moves towards Crimea will make the Russians very nervous. Every time they get nervous talk of nuclear weapons arises and i'd be very anxious if Ukrainian forces were to attempt any kind of assault. Putin would not turn a hair at poisoning the region for decades and denying them the strategic advantage of Sevastapol.
