False Crime Report

She felt it was a mistake to plead guilty. But you've decided that's a lie as well, as you do.
Do you think the police would have prosecuted someone for making a “genuine mistake” in reporting something stolen?

Do you think a lawyer would advise a guilty plea for an offence that requires deliberate criminal intent for a “genuine mistake”?

Do you think the same lawyer would advise no comment to an interview where the whole mistake and misunderstanding could be cleared up?

Perhaps the “genuine mistake” was committing the crime.

Do you think anyone else gives a shít, now that she's been held accountable?

Perhaps, I have an open mind about it, but she's out anyway. You know all the answers, and every detail of what went on and what she was thinking, 10 years ago. As you always do.

Don’t think starmer can sack the deputy. But he clearly has his eye on her. Must have been embarrassing having your deputy trash talking a company you are trying to do a deal with.

If you bother to read the offence you will see the offence is not making a false report as a “genuine mistake”. It’s knowingly making a false report.

Otherwise every witness who mistakenly recall events would be prosecuted.

No judge was involved. It was a magistrate’s court and all we know is that she received a conditional discharge.
Speaking of "mistakes "

NZ is a case in point, despite the carefully orchestrated tax avoidance scheme, hmrc seemed to have accepted at face value that there was no dishonesty. Surely these cases should be tested before a jury. Benefit claimants who make a genuine mistake are prosecuted.

What do you think caused the penalty assessment?

Innocent mistake? Or reckless lack of care?

He didn't get sacked for an innocent mistake

"Nadhim Zahawi has been sacked as Tory Party chairman, after an inquiry by the prime minister's ethics adviser found he had failed to disclose that HMRC was investigating his tax affairs.

The PM said Sir Laurie Magnus's inquiry made clear there had been a "serious breach of the ministerial code".

Rishi Sunak asked for the probe after Mr Zahawi admitted paying a settlement to HMRC, including a penalty.

Sir Laurie said the MP had missed many chances to be open about his tax.

In his report for Mr Sunak, he wrote: "Mr Zahawi's conduct as a minister has fallen below the high standards that, as prime minister, you rightly expect from those who serve in your government."

Sir Laurie cited Mr Zahawi's failures to update his register of interests until more than a year after HMRC started looking into his taxes.

When Mr Zahawi reached a settlement with the tax authority in August 2022, this too should have been declared, Sir Laurie wrote."

The penalty was a civil penalty, not a criminal finding. I was asking why the matter didn't get referred for criminal investigation, and if it did why action wasn't taken
