Yet you don’t agree with paying higher taxes and never say what YOU would do
I don’t think I’ve ever said I don’t agree with paying higher taxes, I don’t agree that people who literally spend every last penny on their monthly bills should pay more tax, they cant…..but surely that’s self evident
One thing I would look at is land value tax as an option.
The problem in this country is wealth inequality…..the wealthy massively increased their assets during the austerity years and during covid. That has got to be addressed.
In the short term I would raise more taxes by taxing capital and put that money towards lowering NHS waiting lists
We have 750,000 people on NHS waiting lists who can’t work, Fillyboy on here said he needs a hip operation and has has struggled on until he can no longer work, that’s an example of a person who would work and would pay taxes if he could.
Clearly the NHS and GP surgeries need reform but in the short term we need to get the waiting lists down.
I would also increase childcare subsidies like Canada…,their research shows making childcare affordable puts people back into work and it can be self financing.
I think Labour should be much braver and should have gone with far more bold plans….but they wouldn’t have won power had they had a radical manifesto
