FCU for Washing Machine - replace with socket?

I do have a switch on the plate in the kitchen so I can turn it off if there is a problem.

When a single circuit is shared, with a number of appliances, it's best if such switches are double-pole, to enable complete isolation, should an appliance trip the RCD/RCBO. Less of an issue, when a plug and socket has been used, you can just unplug.

True enough, unless the fuse dies of old age (which is quite rare) a blown fuse would indicate that the washer is faulty and needs to be pulled out anyway.
