no.....not if you dont like it.....or what if you are allergic to it??.....you can get the same nutrients that are in fish from other places!

Well worth having fish as a major part of your diet, ColJack, especially things like sardines, mackerel and anchovies, as they are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids. In rare instance too much O-3 can result in internal bleeding, so it might be worth playing safe and asking the doc, if you are unsure. That said here is a good quick recipe:

4 ounces (112g) pasta
4 ounces (112g) small (Spanish or Italian} tomatoes
1 tin of sardines (try one of the good makes from Waitrose like Sardine al Limone but avoid the bog standard dreck)

Start boiling the pasta – should take about ten minutes. Cut the tomatoes in half and bung into a frying pan or skillet with the sardines (ensure that the tomatoes are skin-side up and covered in the oil from the sardines). Shove under grill until done, this should take about 8 or 9 minutes.Plonk past on plate. Plonk sardines and tomatoes on pasta. ;)

Forget the fish dinner if you want to diet....go straight for the pudding :)

FWIW, the fish is for health reasons for the oils and such.. not a specific part of the "diet" but more for a healthy all round thing..
I suppose there's always tablets, but It's also for a bit of variety...
chicken, taters, cabbage, leeks, cauliflower and carrots gets boring after a few days..

steak's too expensive, lamb is too greasy for me, and pork is no fun if you have to trim all the fat off..

I'm trying to find a replacement food instead of fish for the same health benefits, do you know or anyone?

Thanks, I do most of them but mosty blueberries, maybe I'm too healthy

Here's one of my favourite tricks with mackerel - get either boneless fillets (normally comes as 4 fillets per fish) or bone in fillets and remove the bones that run down the centre of the fillet. You can remove the bones either with some needlenose pliers/tweezers or by gutting carefully down either side of the bones leaving you with the aforementioned 4 fillets per fish.

Roll the fish in seasoned flour, dip in beaten egg then roll in polenta/cornmeal - place fish on a lightly oiled baking sheet and brush/spray with a bit of veg oil - whack into a 200 degree oven for about 10 minutes.

Oily fish tend to go well with intensely coloured veg (dark green brassicas, beetroot etc.) - my personal fav is T*sco frozen leaf spinach (it doesn't dissolve into nothing like most frozen spinach) - just whack in the microwave for a few mins - squeaze out excess water in a colander then season well with nutmeg, black pepper and a nob of butter.

Another good accompanyment is french beans - lightly cooked, with halved cherry tomatoes with an olive oil vinaigrette - you can have this either hot (warm the toms through in the olive oil in a pan, add dash of vinegar etc. and add the beans) or cold (refresh the beans in ice cold water).

He makes a lot of spoonfulls though. ;)
