I spent 3 1/2 weeks on a ventilator, 3 of that in a coma, I had multi-organ dysfunction, Pleural effusion both sides, Pneumothorax both sides, also fulminant myocarditis with an ejection fraction of 5%. I was "proned" and placed on a rotational mattress and they stopped pumping Jevity down my NGT because my stomach was not dijesting it, I shed most of my skin too. I was deemed to ill to be transferred to Glenfields at Leicester for ECMO treatment and placed on the DNR list. The gods were on my side because pulled through. I was transferred out of Critical Care after 6 weeks and spent a while on a cardiac ward too. The one year that I did not take a flu jab, I got flu and ended up back in hospital. If that makes me a tw@t, I'll keep on being one each year and getting a jab each year.

As with Colvid19 unless hospitalised how would you know, but why take chance, jab is offered for free so have it, as with Colvid19 some die, some no worse than a cold, but I am due to get it next week with the B12 jab as well.

It's made me a tad more cautious for sure, wasn't all bad though, I had "lucid dreams" while I was in a coma, it was awesome! Weeks on end of really weird dreams that you remember as memories rather than dreams. I was bonkers once I was awake too, I believed there was a womble in the bed opposite and that the nurses station sink was an animated mechanical cow. It was deemed I may have brain damage but turned out to be ITU psychosis!

Not sure what ITU psychosis is, but the only perhaps similar experience I've had is coming round from a GA fighting and swearing! Common occurrence apparently.

My employer has provided free flu jabs in previous years to all staff, but this year has decreed its too risky during the CV pandemic for it to be given on site and we are now expected to go to our local GP/pharmacy and claim a refund.
Why its less 'risk' at the pharmacy I dont know.

Congratulations on pulling through, that sounds horrendous.

I'm not eligible, but I'd have it if I could. Despite what I know about the covid vaccine, I'd probably have that one too, even though I'm not at a high risk of serious illness.

Ha, sounds funky! Wombles are pretty random . So glad you had a happy ending - bet your family were more than relieved!

Watched father in law with full-on delirium in hospital a few years ago, had it solid for a good week though in and out for 3.. The stuff he was saying, and his behaviour was proper whacky. He nearly broke the doctors jaw too, with a right hook. I remember my partner asking me to rush down to London as he wouldn't settle, and he was asking for me over and over. As soon as I got there, I was faced with a 7 year old in a 87 year old man's body, legs swinging over the bed, stripped down to his vest and pants shouting. He asked for ice cream, which I went and got (as he'd calmed down once I arrived). He ate the lot except the last mouthful which he spat in my face, giggling! He then started a couple of days of spitting at people, anyone, us, docs, nurses... Now can look back, it was amusing because he recovered, but was scary at the time.

What was really odd though, is that father in law is completely deaf without hearing aids. As he kept trying to eat them, they were taken away. He heard absolutely everything we said. His deafness started returning when he started recovering..
