The DTI actually quote a figure of "4,000 direct jobs" with "many thousands in the supply chain", although at least some the jobs in the supply chain might not necessarily even be in the UK. Of course, if we don't have electric cars being manufactured here the motor industry will just disappear - but isn't that exactly what Brexit economist Patrick Minford told Bozo the Clown? Bear in mind that he was the guy who stated categorically that a hard Brexit would be worth £40 in the pocket of every working person in the UK...
