Sorry Damocles, but you are wrong. Last weekend we were back in The Netherlands and we really didn't believe the prices there. At the same time there was an article in the local paper about did the Euro increase prices above average inflation?
Total shopping basket from 2001 to 2004 : 13%
Entertainment (pubs, restaurants etc): 25%
Supermarkets/groceries i.e. weekly shopping: 10%
There's you answer.
(The only items which dropped in price was electronical goods like pc's mobile phones etc).
As I said before: let the EU get their economics in order before trying (in vain IMHO) to go any further in becoming 'United States of Europe'.
BTW: read in The Times (behind a huge article about the French vote) a tiny article about the vote this Wednesday in The Netherlands. Conclusion of The Times: if the dutch say NO, the EU is really in trouble about the constitution getting approved
