I've just removed the old kitchen base units and obviously there are no skirting boards behind them. There's a gap between the wall and the concrete floor and as I'm scared of spiders, I wanted to fill them in. Is this ok to do does anyone know? The gaps are about a quarter of an inch.

So the reason I asked was because of this expansion thingy? Does that not apply to the gaps between wall and concrete floor behind skirting boards? Or no skirting boards in the case of behind kitchen units.
