Generator voltage

I will try my best to get it to work correctly, ie 230 on the line and 0 volt on the neutral.
If not, I will not proceed untill the customer sorts it out with a new generation set.

I encourage you to first measure some resistances, i.e. L-E, N-E and L-N, to confirm that this is due to the earth being connected to a tap on the generator. There are other possibilities, for example if there is a interference filter (capacitor network) on the output then you could observe AC voltages like those with a high-impedence voltmeter.
