Genius required aspa re: Pulsacoil 2000 ongoing problem.

What do you mean, Matt? I don't need the controller?

I have to use the boost all the time pretty much.

What should I do here?

Now, I am confused.

The electrician is coming at 11am tomorrow.

Do i ask him to check the relay between controller and boiler?
Do I need to get the off peak activated?

Is the economy 7 controller (but lack of economy 7 meter) the problem with no getting hot water after off peak heating?

Can this be rectified?

If I don't need the controller, how do I get hot water?

Sorry for the questions but I want to be clear in my head when the electrician is here.

because your bottom element should be always on your current set up

just had a thought, I'll have a quick deek at the manual if I can find one

after i get back in that is

Do you have a controller like the one in the pic I posted?

OK, I assume bottom post om pg2 is aimed at me

right had a look, I would probably chance telling him to bring one with him its a knocking bet that its the controller

Matt

Not quite. The one Horstmann did before that one. It is called Horstmann Quartz Economy 7. Same concept.

Ok, the one I posted repleaces the one you have.

Just to save reading the whole thread, do you have confirmed that the elements should both function?

When you advance the clock does the main element come on (ie can you hear anything like a kettle beginning to heat up from inside the cylinder if you put your ear against it?)

Indeed, in my experience it will be the controller. assuming the immersion element is serviceable.

I would imagine the last engineers metered for continuity at the pulsacoils input terminals first anyway, so go for it
now going to savor my wine

I would cancel him and order one yourself (from Wilkes for example). The new one will fit directly on to the old wire box (no wiring required it 'plugs in') again assuming that we know the lower immersion element is serviceable.

So, the economy 7 controller should work properly (ie heat the water up when the light comes on) without an economy 7 meter?

Cancel the electrician? What type do I buy?

When the boost is on the boiler makes a distinct kettling sound
When the off peak is on, there is no sound at all.
