Good riddance tobacco!

If it's down to freedom of choice then who wants to legalise heroin and crystal meth? It's the same choice as tobacco - they kill you. Make your minds up folks.

Joe, can you write down peoples reply, instead of asking the same question again and again because you forgot.

I'm waiting for an answer. You answer then Aaron.

Is there any real credible defence for someone wanting to be obese and calling it freedom of choice ?

Sounds like lefty bullshine to me.

Whats wrong with a society that cares about it's members health ? To call that a nanny state or dictatorship is stretching things some. As the old lefties like to do.
To ban smoking would be a brave and highly commendable step. Only a lefty would even attempt to paint that any other colour than what it is.

Just pay your tax (jimmy carr) quit smoking and lose some weight. Sorted.
Or would we all rather our govt's turn a blind eye to people being seriously damaged needlessly ?

Look at it this way then joe
If tobacco is made illegal I might as well move upto heroin and then I could get on sick benefits indefinitely and get free methadone instead of been a filter-tip junkie and working and paying my taxs. Who knows, I might be able to do the same anyway due to tobacco deprivation and withdrawal. :)

Strange that. Seeing as it was the lefties (New Labour) who introduced the smoking ban in public areas.

Do that then. Why can't you just live without drugs?

New Labour .....Lefties ???? I don't think so matey.

Old labour had more than a smattering of lefties yes. But 'New Labour' had largely cleansed themselves of the extreme left. I think thats how come they won 3 elections on the trot to be honest.
They had become unelectably left wing. Good old Neil Kinnock stuck it to em. I will always love him for that.
It's all well and good sticking rigidly to grand principles but they let so many people down by not looking like a force capable of running a country. And Madame Thatcher ran amok. Selling off everything we owned. Gas, Electric, trains and creating a whole new generation of wannabe tories. Buying the council house they lived in and getting themselves 100 BT shares and looking down their noses at their single mum sisters.
Old Labour let the working classes and the disadvantaged down.

Wow, watch out we have a political activist that will turn a banal thread into a REALLY dull one in an instant!

Start your own thread mister and keep on topic.

Tobacco control isnt a left or right issue Mr Troll.

It's an authoritarianism vs libertarian issue.

Though the left tend to be more authoritarian (you can't redistribute wealth by asking nicely).

You can even have a party with liberal economic values but authoritarian social views (such as the conservatives of the past selling of state assets to the private sector, but hating on the gays).

The three main parties are authoritarians socially, that they all slightly disagree on just how many rules should be imposed on any particular issue doesn't make them liberal.

Hey Aaron. Shall we legalise heroin too?
