That said, I'd hazard a guess that a majority of council estate folk don't smoke in front of their kids.
You are avin a larf!

Smokers will pretty much smoke anywhere anytime.

If a smoker needs a fag they WILL smoke.

well i'm happy to be told otherwise, but its wrong... no you don't do that.

should be banned. I would be happy with that.

they demand the right to smoke themselves into an early grave.

name another item other than fuel or alcohol with over 100% taxes, please take your time.......
Not 100% taxes but no difference because of the VAT added.

On paper Petrol is cheap!

An average cost of printer ink is over £5,000 per gallon

Plenty more of other rip off items

Even Evian water at £1.49 therefore £21.19 per gallon

My company I used to work for was the 2nd largest companies in the world and the highest taxpayer in the UK let alone spending £££££££££ on VAT with printer ink.

"on a £4.95 packet of cheap cigarettes, the receipt would list the total tax as £4.12."

So to go from 83p to 4.95 you need to add 600%.

Vat is 20%.

well i'm happy to be told otherwise, but its wrong... no you don't do that.

The pro-smoking lobby will be all over you now.

Why now?

Go to page 1 of this thread and you can see someone saying about a ban.

Because of your Adam Smith report claiming smokers justified paying enough tax for their illness via NHS so in my opinion it's misleading as they couldn't never get the true cost collecting rip off taxes elsewhere although I agree taxes have to go up and because it's the reason the smokers, drinkers and motorists are heavily tax because the Government know they can't give it up and get away with it.

On the first page the pro-smoking lobby started talking about a ban.

It was not suggested by the OP or me though.

It's just an idea people who support the tobacco industry like to throw in so they can argue with themselves.

I would welcome a none smoking society...however I think we are a long way off. Its amazing the amount of people that have died and the grief smoking has caused that a well educated society still continues to poison themselves. Yes I am well aware of the older generation and the fact they didn't no of the dangers back when they started but why do teenagers start today.

However saying this I suppose then smokers could then rightly come back with well if your going to ban cigarettes then what about alcohol? Alcohol is only just behind smoking in terms of deaths and illnesses etc. Would anyone here give up alcohol? I am no alcoholic but i couldn't as I enjoy a drink every now and then.

I don't want to see a banned on smoking but there's a difference in a moderate drinker and a moderate smoker.
