Good riddance tobacco!

Benefit no. 1

It makes a lot of money for people in and around the industry.

Benefit no. 2

Smoking soothes people who are suffering withdrawal symptoms due to being addicted and needing their next fix.

er, what else?
It`s seriously enjoyable - if you like Dutch tobacco , 3Nuns , s**g ( pipe) Players Navy cut ( ciggies) USA toasted tobacco - Original Marlboro. Sobranie Black Russian . etc. I wouldn`t waste my money on "supermarket sweepings" that masquerade as King Size  A Churchill @ Christmas . Now as a poor pensioner I use half an ounce of hand rolling a week - and seeing as I`m T.Total , smoking is my only vice  .
Sold! I'm off to cuba

I don't need to compile a list of benefits. There are relatively few..
I think you do, since you enjoyed doing it with the "anti"'s to make some point. Quid pro quo.

I have stated throughout that this isn't a moral issue. Do what you want, providing it doesn't upset, inconvenience nor harm anyone else. Simples.

:?: Ah .. you didn't get the point of the anti-smoking list?
I made a post explaining the idea behind it.

Your last paragraph makes more sense.

Must admit that skimming through your posts, I can't see the rationale explained, unless it was simply a reference point for ease to prevent repetition.

If so, then why not a similar list for the pro-lobby? Then we can see the bare bones of the argument without all them there mighty fine words of antagonism and desperation.

PS - who are you?

That's it! That's what the list was for. You put it so much pithier than I did.

No need for a list of the pro's. I said why in the earlier post. I'm not defending smoking. There are relatively few benefits and certainly none that would cut any ice with the anti-smokers here. I do defend my right to smoke..... though this thread could end up been enough to turn me to drink as well. :p
You said ...

There's a helluva lot of leeway in that statement that can be applied to loads of other vices and habits.

:p Anyway .. you're only chatting to me now cos you want a flash of my heels? Who am I? I'm a flippin smoker, that's who.

We've already had the pro-smoking list.

Or is there anything you want to add?

Since the anti-smokers are not calling for a ban or criminalisation, the pro-smokers have been concentrating on arguing against things they have invented themselves.

I'm beginning to feel like a parrot here repeating myself.

I'm beginning to feel like a parrot here repeating myself as I think we've already established the smokers were confused as to exactly what the anti-smokers were banging on about ... until we, or at least I, finally realised that you had demanded none of those things you keep mentioning and were actually just expressing your dislike of smokers.

Am I right or am I right?

Am I right or am I right?

No, you are wrong, of course. The pro-smoking lobby could only have been confused if they believed the untrue stories they were themselves making up.

If you read my posts you will see that I have said more than a dozen times that I do not advocate a ban and I do not advocate making smoking a criminal offence. Neither does the OP. Those are just ideas that the pro-smoking lobby has invented and thrown in so they can disagree with themselves.

I have repeatedly said that I do not believe the tobacco industry should be permitted to continue to recruit children and young people to be the addicts of the future.

No pro-smoking person has tried to say that they should do that.

Are you going to say it's not true?

I've yet to come across anyone who would smoke in front of their children,I've yet to come across anyone who is happy their kids smoke. We smokers know its not nice and are guilty of our nasty habit.

I'm probably middle class Joe, never lived on a council estate. That said, I'd hazard a guess that a majority of council estate folk don't smoke in front of their kids.

From my observations, you're wrong.

That's your problem, you've never lived in the real world.

I used to live opposite a junior school and the parents would all be out there fagging it in full view of the kids.
