Good riddance tobacco!

Normally smokers at the pubs or elsewhere don't show any respect because they don't know you whereas friends or family tend to take more care with non smoker because it's polite thing to do.

Nope. The the definitive difference here is... the group you know are 'good'....the group you don't know are 'bad'.

The truth is........ Invite them all to sit in your front room , they will all smell the same. Fact.
I give up. Only an non smoker will understand

Your attitude make it clear it's got nothing to do with protecting health, or saving money, it's just biased puritanism, you don't like smokers.
Again, I'm not asking for a smoking banned, just a bit common sense and respect
Well, if you bothered to read the report, you would know the above has nothing to do with it
Have now, as expected can be misleading
But if they didn't smoke then the money spent elsewhere is taxable anyway
name another item other than fuel or alcohol with over 100% taxes,
Right now you're saying fuel and alcohol, I drive and a moderate drinker but don't smoke therefore what is the difference for an example between with the smokers who doesn't drink or drive and yet we're both heavily tax in a difference way? You could argue all day, although not their fault but not always the people on benefits are getting fags paid for including the tax so it's never ending and why the smokers feel hard done by I don't know unless I'm missing somthing?
please take your time.......
Now you're being sarcastic

the pro smoking lobby here doesn't have anything to say except "you want to ban it! you want to make smoking illegal! it's not fair! you don't like me!!

only the last is true.

Perhaps it might be useful to ask for a list of the benefits of smoking. I lack imagination in this field, and throughout the time when I managed to puff my way through over 150000 ciggies, not a single good reason ever crossed my mind. So please enlighten me, for posterity's sake

Benefit no. 1

It makes a lot of money for people in and around the industry.

Benefit no. 2

Smoking soothes people who are suffering withdrawal symptoms due to being addicted and needing their next fix.

er, what else?

the anti smoking lobby here doesn't have anything to say except "we don't want to ban it! We don't want to make smoking illegal! It's not fair! We just don't like you!
Only the last is true.

Oh bugger ... you don't like me? That hurts.
I thought we'd established that about 5 or 10 pages back?
You hate smokers. It did take me about 20 odd pages to realise it wasn't a discussion about smoking you actually wanted ... just to take the high moral ground and vent your hatred of a group in society who don't fit the bill for clean, wholesome living.
And yet .. one of the most common complaints in this thread about smokers is that they have no respect .. are selfish and intolerant.

Oh dear, with all respect, try and keep up. I'm way ahead of you and I'm only a dumb smoker!
I made the list AGAINST smoking to save YOU all the time and effort of typing out angry posts (and repeating yourselves). But ... like a rollercoaster with no handbrake you keep clanking away. I really thought you'd have got the reasoning behind that .. but it must have been too subtle.

I'm not in the slightest bit angry. You have indeed precis'd the anti-arguments for which we are all extremely grateful. In fairness, it seems only right to look on the other side of the coin. So instead of trying to use a smoke and daggers argument including infantile belittlement to obfuscate the issues, perhaps you'd like to turn your attention to this ;) ;)

Infantile belittlement and obscufation? Look .. I'm not sure if you're trying to be sarcastic or just sharpen your wits on me with words of four syllables but .. well ... I'll try my best but I'm not too ingenious or dextrous with words like you but here goes.

You still haven't got it have you?
I have never denied smoking is unhealthy.
I don't need to compile a list of benefits. There are relatively few. But if the day comes when every habit or leisure activity is rated like judge and jury on it's benefits, how many do you think will survive?
Alcohol would certainly be in question as well. Yet millions of people enjoy a little tipple at the end of the day to unwind.
Oops... sorry .. we can't mention other personal vices can we.

I think you do, since you enjoyed doing it with the "anti"'s to make some point. Quid pro quo.

I have stated throughout that this isn't a moral issue. Do what you want, providing it doesn't upset, inconvenience nor harm anyone else. Simples.

It`s seriously enjoyable - if you like Dutch tobacco , 3Nuns , Shag ( pipe) Players Navy cut ( ciggies) USA toasted tobacco - Original Marlboro. Sobranie Black Russian . etc. I wouldn`t waste my money on "supermarket sweepings" that masquerade as King Size  A Churchill @ Christmas . Now as a poor pensioner I use half an ounce of hand rolling a week - and seeing as I`m T.Total , smoking is my only vice  .
