Great british cars-nostalgia

Go kart with R1 engine 4 wheel enough, helped build it.

Lotus 2.2 Sunbeam. That car enough, raced that with a m8.

When I was at college in the mid 70's one lad built a go kart as his main project. When it was finished, he used to race around the place, like there was no tomorrow. He came round a corner one day , just slightly too fast, straight into the head of the CDT (creative design and technology) Dept, breaking the head of dept's ankle.

The stag was a masterpeice and soooooooooooo sexy.......my mate used to have a red convertible and during the summer of 76 which was the best summer ever we used to go cruising round all the pubs where the chicks was outside and felt like don ones getting out of it with our shades on....worked a treat though    :D :D :D ......76 to me best summer ever

......76 to me best summer ever
That was HOT, Very Hot, but good.
Do you remember the masses of ladybirds that appeared everwhere in swarms....I remember thay used to be all over the house...even in my chest of draws in my socks

I remember them well, I was in boarding school on the Wirral. West Kirby was full of them, couldn't walk without stepping on a carpet of red!!

I seem to remember that the sunny summers lasted longer in the 70s...

Its the plague of greenflies i remember in 1978 when you drove under a tree you ended up with a full windscreen of mush to scrape off

oh yes 1970's british built cars, mission statement, building to oblivion, they were absolutely awful, a world class joke.

We had a Daytona yellow 2 door Mk3 Cortina at the time. The ladybirds were attracted to the colour. Parking it for an hour or two, meant coming back to a car covered in them. The things used to bite too.

Bit like this, only with a black vinyl roof.

Triumph Stags? Used to see them advertised 'with Rover V8 engine'. Says it all, really.

How about a Daimler SP250 aka a Daimler Dart?

Triumph snags, yes the engine used to overheat all the time, so, generally the best solution was to heave to old lump out, and substitute with a rover V8 block...... which i think actually was originally a chevvy V8 block.
