Heat pumps and noise

probably installed wrongly

sadly the UK heating and plumbing industry dont know how to install them..........we have an industry which has been installing condensing gas boiler for years, using flow rate temperatures that mean the boiler never condenses

Im not blaming installers I think its the customers, the govt, the training, the manufacturers etc etc

although, I would say it is pretty difficult for a heat pump to compete against mains gas, but would against oil

Personally I think the blame lies with the architects, who in turn are driven by the developers to design ever smaller shoe boxeshouses. So where can they save space - well combi boilers are good for them by eliminating the cylinder cupboard*, and of course they'll fit the smallest radiators they can make the numbers appear to work for. They won't care if the occupants have to turn up the flow temp to the point where the boiler stops condensing most of the time - they'll have pocketed their fees long before that (not that many are likely to realise the issue).

The installers ought to question the design, but then they have limited scope for pushback since the developers will simply choose the next cheapest quote from the bottom of the pond.

Then we switch to heat pumps, but then you can't turn the flow temperature up much before they stop being efficient - or possibly working at all when faced with a demand for high flow temperature, caused by trying to heat the house during very cold weather.

* Today, I was reading a piece that suggested the "boiler ban" might not actually ban gas boilers - allowing the use of a heat pump for heating and a gas boiler for hot water in properties where there isn't room for a cylinder

The initial overall cost of going green for the UK was £2.5b from the gov and £5b from the public. That was a few years ago. It also needs investments for energy sources from companies.

Noise- negligible I would say. My bathroom extractor fan is noisier.

Heating will be on and up high because everyone will be sat doing nothing, so the energy crisis gets worse anyway.

Are you deliberately totally ignoring what I said - I did not say ANY of that. This is what I have said---
World governments just supply heat pumps - solar- EV cars - insulation, perhaps even free bus, free train for free, create the money to build it and fit it with the press of a button. Until then its money making scam. So I am saying all of these things gov are forcing/ coerce us to spend money on because that will stop the world from boiling ETC. You still pay for your energy use and everything else you do now but just not the supply and fitting of the hardware. And as a bonus 100% employment - zero poverty --- but no they are even going to slap VAT on the eco stuff.
