Henley Block

OK, OK, the point's been made. Give the guy a break now. Sometimes this forum seems to descend to playground bullying.

Exactly BS.

I can see nowhere that it says that a Henley block is only for a single wire & that you need 2.
Its just something that comes with experience & having bought one.

Just typical of what help people get here.

Sorry, no.

Even if you don't know that you can get 2-pole blocks you do not need "experience" to tell you that if you've got single-pole ones you simply use two of them, one for each pole.

But there are no poles involved, only wires. :)

Hence until he has actually bought one, he might not know that he needed 2.

Goes into wholesalers & asks dopey counter hand for a Henley block, pays up & goes home.
Opens it up & discovers its single way connections only.
Obviously the dopey counter hand never asked if he wants single or double :)

Its not that hard to do that, although its not rocket science.

And its not in section 485.233 paragraph 2 of the regulations (I checked)

Its such a simple thing to not know, that a Henley block can be purchased in single/double "pole" and now he knows & is highly unlikely to ever purchase a single again when he knows he needs a double.

;)

Blimey - mine stops at 445.1.5 before going on to Chapter 5...

I recently chose to buy 2 singles....

i wonder how much of the cable he extends will be single insulated? and what size tails anyway.

Or having looked at one and used simple common sense.
Some things shouldn't need spelling out so my three year old can do it! :!:

I think the worst thing is that hes a fully qualifyed spark as far as i understand it.

The future of sparks isnt bright. Bring back the old city and guilds.

Yea the one without the targets!

You know - a number of people have been creating new accounts recently which appear to be just used to knock someone. It seems unlikely to me that these accounts are new independent ones, and much more likely that they are second (or third) accounts created by existing users who are ashamed to make the posts under their familiar account names. An administrator will have access to the IP addresses of the perpetrators, and I would like to see these underhand practices curtailed, as it is spoiling the forum. DIYnot seems to be turning into DIY...Not! or some personal vendetta.

Or maybe newbies that are shocked by what DIYers take on it would be fair to say 3036 would you agree?

I do respect the chap and good on him for asking but if that was to go wrong then he would have bits of ceramic imbeded in his eye balls. its not changeing a face plate ....this is as serious as it gets in a domestic situation.

Every body has there limit........even me

I know one of the newcomers by the way. i recormended him to sign up so he can see the pictures of the week ( always good to see RF)

3036----as one of the newbies i can assure you that you completely wide of the mark---incompetence can kill, and thats the worry here.

When people are offering advice on how to effectively break the law it worries me! Part P is a real pain but it is the law, like it or not!

Who here offers "advice on how to effectively break the law"?

Advising people how to do a safe and proper job even though you know they are going to break the law is not advising them to break it! Do you think that people who aren't going to notify when they should will abandon all thought of DIYing if they are refused help?
