Crime rates tend to go up in areas with Capital punishment.
This is why i disagree that harsher punishments = more peaceful society.

The reason society is the way it is is bad parents.
Simples.

I think normal police should be as firm as this......it would result in less disruptive behaviour....I am sure that juvenile bad behaviour would be at an all time low.
Why not bring in the same tactics as hussein and other despots used. Make a few of the lesser desirable "disappear" into some landfill site somewhere
Always acting the devils advocate eh.

Are you suggesting that police have the same right to use force as we do Dex?
yes - why should this not be the case?

And it isn't exactly the same, the riot police officer takes like 3 paces forward to get rid of someone that shouldn't have been there. There was no intent to hurt, just to move. The other guy chased him down the street with a specific idea of hurting the other person.
I'm sure if Ian has run away like the thief, he wouldn't have been struck.
I was referring to the actions by the policeman agoainst the woman this thread relates to - see the video on page 1

Just following a stance to a possible logical conclusion.

1) No, the police have been appointed to keep the peace. Which is why we call them and not sort it out ourselves. They have powers we do not.

2)This is the woman who then went and signed up to Max Clifford the publicist? She kept harrassing the police officer, she got what she wanted...accept the courts weren't as bias as the UK papers were.
