How Do you Legislate?

Yes me too. Should any taxi driver be allowed to own a machine gun? If not why not?

you should be a politician with your evasive ways.... we aren't talking machine guns, you said no taxi driver should own a gun ... because, in your opinion... taxi drivers don't need guns.

how can you ever know that all taxi drivers have no need for guns?
and why should your personal, individual opinion decide how other people conduct there lives.

And i'd say that you don't need to own a guitar...... do you?

I don't need to own a guitar but it harms no-one that I do. Now should a taxi driver be able to own a hand gun? He has no need for it so I say he shouldn't.

Neither should he own a hand-grenade or a bomb making factory. It's his mental health problem that drives him to own such things when he has no need for them, therefore it shouldn't be allowed.

If he is a member of a gun club then the gun should stay locked up at the club.

So I shouldn't be allowed to shoot on my own property, or the property of others with prior written permission?

You own a guitar because you want to... and you could smash someone over the head with it.... but admittedly it's not quite so destructive as a gun.

But you drift off talking about Bird and bombs..... you said "no taxi driver should have a gun because they don't need one".... i'm sorry, but that really is a controlling, narrow-minded statement Joe.

In a democracy, your personal opinions come second to the elected governement and the laws they pass.... and i accept fully, that you're entitled to that opinion, but for me, i find it disrespectful.

Change the law then. It's heading that way.

You still haven't told me why a taxi driver shouldn't own a machine gun. I'm waiting.

But I want to shoot. But you're saying I can't, because.. Wait, why?

Let them own one. Sorts out the wheat from the chaff so to speak.

Its minus 12 in Cumbria right now. The long winter continues.

Joe, please keep this civil... "i'm waiting" is quite patronising on a forum...

Change the law? are you telling me to? i can't. If you want to.. then that's fine... then lobby your MP.. that's what they're there for.

I still haven't told you about the taxi driver and the machine gun..... firstly we weren't talking machine guns. And we were exploring my opinion.. we were trying to understand why according to you, no taxi driver should have a gun.
But, since you ask, i personally think machine guns should be owned by gun clubs and not individuals - the main reason for that is in case they're nicked from a house.

It's his mental health problem that drives him to own such things when he has no need for them, therefore it shouldn't be allowed.

so you are saying that anyone who owns a gun has a mental health problem?

Shooting in it's many forms is a recreational hobby, a sport, a thing that people like to do.

Some people like to fly model aircraft. I have no interest in this but I don't suggest that people who do have a mental health problem because "nobody needs a radio controlled plane"
