How do you shut the water for the cold tank?

The water tank gate valve will be imperial so a new 22mm lever valve won't fit in there without the 3/4" olives etc as mentioned before. Though you could just leave the old valve where it is and cut the new lever valve in just above it and just below the grey fitting, that will achieve the same result, if you can squeeze it in. You may need to cut some of the pipe out above the grey fitting to get it all to fit back together and still fit to the ball valve inlet.

Yes, this is one bad messy job indeed with the imperial size pipes what have you, making the job more complicated. :(
I will go up to the loft, and check out the cold water tank fill pipe sizes, and think out the best option for the lever valve installation.

Took my caliper and read the outer diameter of the cold water tank pipe. Both top and below of the gate valve read 21.85 mm.
