To you.

I'm driving to France . I'm reading that I'm insured to drive in the EU.

Do you agree?

Have you got breakdown cover Bod? Make sure you take your licence, insurance and V5 with you. Are you going anywhere you will need a Crit air certificate?

If you’re going into a major city, it’s a certificate to show that your car can go in. A bit like ULEZ but only costs about £4 and lasts for years. If you’re not going into any major ones, you won’t need it.

I like that you are asking a bunch of insomniac alcoholics over the people who really matter.

Have you given any thought whatsoever into actually asking your insewerence Co'?

No need. Bod was just confirming what he thought. It’s quite obvious what the answer is. Obviously not to you though.

Your UK insurance does cover you to drive in EU countries. But, like it says, it only provides the bare minimum legal cover required.

So fully comp UK insurance will only provide third party insurance abroad.
If you want your fully comp insurance to cover you abroad, you need to pay the extra to your insurance company.

Not necessarily true. Many insurance policies will cover you abroad with the same level of cover you have in the UK. I’m with LV and my policy gives me the same cover in Europe as it does in the UK. I didn’t ask for it and I don’t pay any extra for it.

Sure, some companies will provide it for free. You specify your requirements and you takes your pick of policies.
Frequent travellers in the EU will choose a company that provides that service for free.

But in Bod's case it clearly says, "minimal legal requirements only".
If he wants his fully comp to cover him in the EU, he has to pay the extra.

It doesn’t say that at all. It says it includes the 'compulsory motor insurance requirements ……' . My fully comp includes the 'compulsory motor insurance requirements……'

Mine is not stepped down to third party only while abroad and I don’t pay any extra for that fully comp abroad so what you say is clearly not true in all cases.

It would be more correct for you to say:
Some fully comp UK insurance will only provide third party insurance abroad. If you want your fully comp insurance to cover you abroad, you may need to pay the extra to your insurance company.
