Hi all,

I am wanting to install a Hive Heating System to my Vaillant Ecotec Pro 28 Combi Boiler, which currently has 2 zones set up - one for upstairs, and the other for downstairs. We have 2 thermostats to control these zones, but are wanting to replace these with Hive thermostats if possible.

After doing some research and watching some tutorials, I am confident that I can install a single receiver to the boiler and get that up and running with the thermostat, but installing the multizone part is what confuses me, as 2 receivers are necessary in this case.

Does a second receiver need to be wired to a particular place I assume?

If anyone could provide me with some advice on this, I would be very grateful!

Please see the attached image of the current wiring on the boiler PCB itself in its' current state.

Any help would be great!

Kind Regards
Jay

You should have x2 motorised valves which then utilise the 24v connection on the pcb. Removing your boiler cover also should be carried out by a gas safe registered engineer, or at least be checked for safe operation by one afterwards as it forms part of the combustion circuit.

As above, the Hives wouldn't connect directly to the boiler; they would connect to the two zone valves joined at the wiring centre. These in turn fire the boiler.

Might be worth a look:
A useful video, but dual zone systems on combis usually have a far simpler wiring centre - ones that we have come across before, look much like this..

...and if the OP can't find the wiring centre, they can be hidden all over the place. Probably in an airing cupboard, but even in one instance under the bath!
