Hi, I have and old car of 25 years and just connected a Head Unit Display to the OBD to read the speed and other data. I have been using this HUD on another car for an year and worked very good, but with this older car it doesn't give me the consume, just says 00.0 L/100km

The day before plugging it, I sprayed the connector with WD-40 because it was full of dust and dirt. I waited one day to let the WD-40 to evaporate a little, but it was still wet the next day. I guess it is not that volatile.

Is there something I can do or because the car has 25 years will not give me this information?

25yrs or so ago, data storage was a floppy disc.
1.44mb, iirc

Not even enough for a single photo nowadays.

I doubt your car will have stored much of anything, data wise.

Please don't do that.
WD40 is an electrical insulator, and is absolutely the wrong thing to use on electrical connections of any kind.
For next time, use contact cleaner.
Ouch! I used the WD-40 because I read it was dielectric, so no Short circuit could happen that messes everything up.

Ok, lesson learned. Do you think it will help to use breaker cleaner spray to clean it?

I am thinking maybe I am not receiving the consume data because the WD-40 have insulate the pin that gives this Information. Can this work like this?

WD40 do the correct electrical contact cleaner these days.

If you mean brake cleaner then no. Brake cleaner is likely to melt the plastic which forms the socket, the insulation on the wiring, the surrounding panels, the carpet and more.

Just use the contact cleaner as suggested above.

Perhaps. More likely is that this 25 year old car doesn't have any speed or fuel data to display.

It has speed data, and how many kilometres it did in each ride, but apparently no consume data. Isn't there anything I could do to have that info?

What car is it ?
Vito W638, year 2000.

I imagine it is not possible to add any sensor to the car that it is not already built in. Isn't it?

I will add the proximity sensor sooner or later, but apart from that, being able to read the consume in real time it would be a good thing.
