How are you going to show that Newton, Faraday, Planck, Dirac, Einstein and many others far to numerous to mention were doing it all wrong? Stoooopid.

well that's exactly where you jumped in with both feet... with major assumptions... i have a pretty simple scientific notion that i think should be reworded (or similar... as i can't describe any more without giving it away) that's all i want to do. The rest of science is safe....

All or part - the same principle applies. Publish a paper, get it peer reviewed and if it's successful it'll be included in the major journals and you'll get the credit for it.

Thank-you for a decent answer. So how and where do i publish a paper?

First you'll need to learn how to write a paper - there's a specific format required. It'd probably be easiest to find a specialist writer to help you with that and guide you through the whole process.

Ta. I'll get googling tomorrow.

But a specialist writer might nick his "big idea" and get all that money.

I'm asking for advice on how i might protect my thoughts about changing a particular scientific notion.

Will this "scientific notion" have any commercial value or is it pure science? The answer isn't always obvious.   To take a hypothetical example, you might have an electromagnetic theory of gravity which subsequently turns out to be the key to warp drive!   If you can see the connection already, you need to build a warp engine and get it patented (more on that later). But if it's pure science with no apparent application then this --

You submit them for publishing as a paper in a scientific journal. You wait for the peer reviews which will test your methodology and ideas and if it's accepted, you get the credit.

Expect to be challenged - that's how science works. You build a theory and then do your best to destroy it - if you can't then the peer review process allows others with a more objective view (you can't be truly objective because you have a vested interest) to attempt to do so.

pretty much says it all. Contrary to popular belief, experiments aren't designed to confirm theories but rather to disprove them.   Scientists are always looking for counter-examples.

You should start by reading the journals.   Search out anything related to your theory. You'll get an idea about the required format (which isn't difficult) and you might find that your idea has already been done. :( :( :(

If your idea has commercial possibilities you'll want to do things differently because once you publish it you can't patent it. That's where things get really tricky. It's a pretty safe bet that you don't have the facilities to build a warp engine - or a teleporter - or a fusion reactor (which has been done by the way). The fact is that even for simple inventions with no new science involved you need a product champion, some organization with the recourses to build and market your idea. The whole process is a minefield of which I know nothing. Best of luck! :) :) :)
