If you were God...

Scientists believe in man made climate change - do you lot?

I'd be happy to discuss it with somebody who would understand the basics of how science works. So that rules you out I'm afraid.

That's it mate - run off with your tail between your legs (as usual).

I'm an Agnostic.

" In the strict sense, however, agnosticism is the view that humanity does not currently possess the requisite knowledge and/or reason to provide sufficient rational grounds to justify the belief that deities either do or do not exist."

Nice to know you don’t always post just to provoke a reaction Joe

I have always said that I am an agnostic but that I so strongly suspect there is no god or, to be more specific, any benevolent god which puts us mere humans above anything else, (either living or not).

So to that end it, (a God), is not worth considering and therefore to all intents and purposes I am an Atheist too. (i.e. not a theist).

Name me one thing that does happen or comes into being without Energy?

So the bottom line truth is that Energy created everything, he is the God of all things!

This is my New Steinein Equation:

G = Mc2 = E

If we simplyfy this further, to make it even more idiot proof, we thus come to this:

since G = E therefore E = Mc2

Conversely G = Mc2 real simple answer to a long mystery baffeling scientist!

It’s the thought that ultimately it is entirely possible that there is nothing and no purpose to our lives, other than procreation, which has driven humans into this form of religious madness and denial.

It’s not all bad though and, I believe, it may well have been ‘invented’ out of desperation or quite laudable values. Having lost people I love in my life, there is nothing I would want more than to be reunited with them in a form where I can make up for all the things I wish I’d said and done; or just show how much more I loved them than they ever may have known.

But wishes are not facts and there’s absolutely no evidence or proof that such a ‘Disneyland’ exists. Besides which, I actually don’t want to ‘come back’ or go on to anything else; once is more than enough.

It got right up my nose when the ex-Pope said secularism is the devil; or words to that effect. What a prat!!!

Atheists, (certainly all the ones I know), are not at all bad. But I have met lots of very un-Christian and hypocritical so-called Christians.

I’ll help anyone! In fact I do every working day and not just because I have to. This famous statement puts it well for me.. “I shall pass this way but once; any good that I can do or any kindness I can show to any human being; let me do it now. Let me not defer nor neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.” But with the exception that if they are cruel they can kiss my

I don’t care if people want to believe any crackpot notion. I know, probably more than most, just how much this world and its people can be utterly despicable, vile and sadistic! So if someone has found a way of happiness which works for them – great! I’m truely very happy for them and I know just how it worked for my own dear late mum. It’s when these happy clappy hypocritical fanatics get in my face trying to convert me or hurt others I have a problem.

The way I see it, in life there is how you would like things to be and there is how things are. For the people who can’t come to terms with this dichotomy there’s drink, drugs, suicide, excessive master.bation and, last but not least, religion.

Big Tone, very nicely put down, that is how I am, you might think I am religious, but Nope, i am kind of agnostic, but more inclined to believe in God whom I consider some form of superficial, supreme intelligent mighty source of all energies that one could possibly think of, all having been driven from him, it, or however you want to put it.

If i was God, and wanted to create physical life, I would need to first make a home for that life to sustain, make suitable conditions, regardless of how long it may take, 6 days or 6 billion years or 16 billion years is all irrelavent, as the process will be based on certain guidelines or forces or laws, so once i implement these laws, it makes my life that much easier as after that it is all automatic, each thing will follow these rules and the process of creation will evolve itself, once suitable conditions for human life have been attained, I could then programme the software in that particular species so that apart from following the rules of the universe, i.e conceive, give birth, grow old and then die, I would also programme different software in each kind so that like birds babies will; know how to fly straight from the nest, whilst human babies will need practice to walk and will fall many times over as I would have made its brain to self teach and learn, as I would want this particular species a complete independent ability to think, to create, to destroy and invent and so on! hence why birds or monkeys do not have our abilities.

it is this ability that we have, gives us many question as to where we came from, what is our purpose, why we are here, did our creator just made us to marvel at us how we progress or learn from our mistakes and become a good civilised species, or will we all fight one another and tear each other apart and god watching us over laughing as we tear ourselves apart as we humans do to hen fights and chase bulls to their destruction!

we attain some sick fun out of seeing animals fight themselves to bits, I am sure God didn't think we would go that far, by giving us independent thinking, he could have equally programmed our brain like he does with birds, and we would only do a few things like birds don't have or have not invented any weapons to destroy their rivals, they don't have nuclear warfare, we have, we have that capability, given to us, freely, it is just a question of who can attain knowledge, and use it for a rightful purpose.

we know, as we have the knowledge what is best for us and others, we know that if we step outside these rules we would destruct ourselves.

he certainly wouldn't be too happy, but he couldn't care less as he could do better next time, make even more exciting species than we were, more intelligent and so on. I could write a book but hey cheer up.

Why create anything just for the selfish adoration from ones own creation? Your god is no more than the breeder of a pack of loyal dogs then, aspiring to win favour from them all in a pointless and selfish experiment. There’s god just looking in a mirror thinking “how beautiful and magnificent am I? I must get them to tell me so”. Such narcissism is cringe worthy.

Look mate, just enjoy what time you have on Earth and treat others as you would wish to be treated yourself. You don’t need to get it from a book or primitive and ignorant scriptures and you don’t need to follow religious sheeple.

And while you’re at it, try not to look down on those whom do not subscribe to such apocrypha. Just as a child learns to do without a dummy, progress sometimes means letting go of familiar and unecessary comforts.

One day, if an Armageddon doesn’t happen from some fanatic/s, we will all learn to live without it/him/her and we’ll have to find something else to fight over...

Believing that all things come from an energy supply that is infinite - though we can never hope to know what it is, doesn't make one a God botherer. I'm not religious, but I can see that all things come from one source. Let's call that source God and get on with it. You'll never know anyway. Whatever you believe will be wrong. Scientists believe in man-made climate change - who thinks they are wrong?

Name me one thing that does happen or comes into being without Energy?

So the bottom line truth is that Energy created everything, he is the God of all things!

!

Assuming there is energy in the universe that in effect "powers" it (and in one of the threads there is the notion of positive and negative energy cancelling each other out?) seems to me to be a more scientific than religious view point
The bible refers to a god that not only creats but loves and talks to his "children" which surely must mean that god is some form of sentient entity or being which simply energy isn't. Energy may perhaps give rise to life if it interacts with organic compounds but it can't decide to make life which seems to be the basis of bible text.

This thread is simplifying my decision to be both an atheist and a sceptic of science.
Ok I might sound like a luddite here but I did not want the Haldron Collider to be built. If it was an experiment was it one too far? What if our knowledge was wrong and the effect of firing particles at each other had created a chain reaction?
But this simply illustrates my point.

I do not need to pontificate about science or become a particle physicists to find out about creation or the possible nature of GOD.

Even if we do ever find the answer to these questions what actual difference will it make.
Even if GOD stood on the shores of Galilee today everyone from Jews to Christians to Islamics would say oooh look there is 'OUR' GOD we told you he existed now we will kill you all...

Pointless pointless pointless. Even this thread has thrown up insults and accusations , ok fairly mild ones but they would be more severe if you felt the bread in your mouth or the lives of your children were threatened.

What if science proves that evolution and a specific set of circumstances created the world. Do you honestly think every religious zealot would say er OK then,,,.we were wrong?

Not a chance.. Religion is power and control. Science is nothing other than satisfying curiosity.

What matters and ONLY matters is how we are going to live in peace. So lets just scrap the need for a GOD forget the chase for pointless science. Particle physics brought the A bomb. hmmmm yep right now in korea about as welcome as an ice cream cone full of vomit.

Lets just accept the simple things like night and day summer and winter. Forget religion and science and simply live by a moral code which punishes bad behaviour and praises good behaviour.

Lets publicly shame Big business leaders and bankers. Police - NHS - etc etc. Lets see people change their ways and lets see people think holistically about the world.

Lets make a world where there would actually be no need for charities to even exist.
