Some of those are legal. 3% of the total aren't. So 5% are legal. BBC report.

The figures are indeed usually 'revised' year on year...

But the interesting thing is that whilst in the EU, people came and went without the need for visas and the overall numbers were much lower...

And most that came and went actually benefited the UK economy to a greater extent than the non EU immigrants now do because they could freely work/study/invest...

Just as the UK citizens who could come and go as they pleased mostly benefited other EU countries...

The people who came from the EU worked as and when in jobs that are now being left unfilled...

And Europeans are by definition more culturally adapted to the UK, and vice versa...

It is no coincidence that farage put up lying racial stereotype posters etc in order to stir up the anti EU campaign...

Because Conservatives tightened up student visas last year the changes took place in Jan 2024

Also Conservatives tightened up work visas in April this year

So numbers will come down

We have an ageing population with a declining birth rate ( mostly due to the conners attacks on the family - remember all those if you can't afford them don't have em statements eg two child benefit cap) and now the simple fact is we need mass immigration we might not want it but we need it, In 10 years time 50% of our population will be aged 60+ and in 15 years its 52% over 65,,,

In my parents day it was 20% over 60.... can you imaging how much we will need to tax the young workers to pay for 31 million over 65. Please do not give me that BS we paid in all our lives nonsense.. you paid for your parents and we moaned about that.
