I'm thinking of taking out an infrared receiver from my old television set and integrating it to the ceiling light circuit. The idea is to use the infrared receiver as a secondary switch for my ceiling light, so that when the existing switch for the ceiling light is turned on, I can use a remote control to switch the light on and off.
Does anyone have any idea at all how to do it? One problem I foresee is that the lighting circuit uses a certain transformer and operates on a certain voltage and current, which is probably different from what the infrared receiver operates on, so I probably won't be able to simply connect the infrared receiver to the light just like that. Can anyone shed some light (no pun intended) on this issue?
I don't know much about this kind of practical electrical stuff btw, so feel free to correct me and/or add some safely advice as you see fit.
Oh yeah, in my place, the mains supply a voltage of 240V, AC.
Thanks.
