Yes but. Ice is the future
We need to build more windmills and solar farms to produce all of that green electricity to power all the EVs.That graph up there is pure fantasy from 2000 onwards.
Pure speculation.
I remember when the "scientists" started the disaster fairy tale in the 80s.
So far they haven't got one of their prediction right, not a single one.
I remember the "experts" who said that in 2010 London would have tropical climate and be on the beach: they conned me!
There's no beach here (it's still where it was in the 80s) and it's still as cold as ever.

Wonder how much electricity we have produced in the last 2 weeks with Zero sun and Zero wind.

Funny how every BBC /sky news report on weather always manages to link it to man made climate change espicually when its hot or windy or rainy and yet the recent feature on both BBC and Sky--- nothing -not one mention of linking it to man made climate change, why is that.

What is anticyclonic gloom and why is it making the UK weather so dull?
Elizabeth Rizzini and Darren Bett look at why our weather is so gloomy at the moment and ponder when things might change.www.bbc.co.uk
That is one of the reasons why the rush to green energy, is so ridiculously expensive - the need to have a near equal capacity of backup, in the form of conventional generation.
Gridwatch, is a one to watch - https://www.gridwatch.templar.co.uk/
Wind providing 7%, solar zilch. Rest is gas/nuclear and imported.
I think Harry's point is "if the country needs 100MW, and they have 100MW of wind turbines, but it's not always windy, what they do is keep 100MW of coal revved up and producing (because they have to, because you can't just turn a power station on when things are slack), as backup for when the wind drops
Right now wind is doing more than nuclearGridwatch, is a one to watch - https://www.gridwatch.templar.co.uk/

Isn't it good harnessing that little wind to make some power.Which doesn't take much, to beat nuclear! Wind is only generating 1/4 of what gas is having to generate, to make up for the lack of wind.
