Is there a god?

Call it Shirley if you like. The answer is still the same.

Which is no answer at all. i.e. the universe came from somewhere, well I think everybody knows that, we just don't know how or where from.
Calling it any silly name you can think of doesn't advance anyones knowledge.

It could only come from one source. Let's just call it God and have done with it.

As we've already agreed you can call it what you like. But it doesn't mean anything at all. I think I'll call it sooey, therefore I am god.
Send your offerings to me at sooey @Godmail.co.uk

Maybe not, but if there is a God it must encompass everything or it would not be God. Look around you at the universe - it all came from somewhere - let's give that somewhere/something a name, let's call it God. Now YOU believe in God.
Your abuse of the English language never stops.

Calling something God does not make it God.
For it to be a god, it must have intelligence (or at least consciousness), and there is zero evidence of either.

Just because you don't know or understand, does not mean you should call it God.

If it helps, think that time itself didn't exist before the big bang, and that there was no starting point in space from where the big bang started.

BTW, the universe is called the universe. Not god.

Before the big bang there was nothing. So what acted upon that nothing to make it a something? I guess we should give it a name. Let's call it God.

There was a statistically rigorous study showing that ESP exists. So I have to ask if there is such a study showing that somehow, by some mechanism, prayer works.

I tried searching on
prayer abstract significance .05 level pdf
and came up with
http://godandscience.org/apologetics/smj.pdf

BTW, the people who ran the first study still did not believe that ESP existed, in spite of the results of their own study. I should have kept the link to the YouTube video of this study.

When I was a kid I demanded that God strike a person dead. 30 years later this person died, too late to do me any good.
Assuming God took zero time to decide this issue and assuming my demand and the answer travelled at the speed of light, how far away in furlongs does God live? Show your work.

Some scientists are talking of what was before the big bang although it doesn't really make any difference to this topic. However, we are all agreed that something happened and some force or energy started it all off. Now simply saying that this energy (or force, gravity maybe?) is god does raise the problem of the bible because if god and energy are one and the same thing most if not all of god's actions in that book are pure fantasy.
It was a intelligent self aware god that spoke to adam, moses, and everyone else if we believe what is written or are you saying peoples conversations with god are nothing more than some form of misinterptation of a source of energy?

According to me, Energy & God are the same aspect of the Creator, they are intertwined.

wrong or right, its like your mind and your body, the mind decides or plans and the body carry out the function, both help each other to perform tasks, both are the same aspect of a living being. Except God is not a living being, otherwise he would be subject to atrophy. Our Creator is eternal.

There's more than a biblical God. I'm an agnostic. I believe that there is something behind everything, but I'll never know what, and neither will you.

So are you saying that the scriptures that talk of god loving or being merciful or vengeful or being all seeing and knowing are wrong? A lump of coal or a gallon of petrol has energy but cannot love.
Personally I'd prefer either no god or a definate god that either created energy or perhaps used it to his will rather than this "god and energy are the same thing" track.

We've been using Paracetamol since 1887 - and are still clueless as to how it works - so fat chance of working out how the universe works. ;)

No, in a round about way, I wish i could be more specific, but how can I?
its just a thinking, or an unproven concept.
I said Energy and God are intertwined, i.e the God part is the loving, merciful, or vengeful, and the energy part is all to do with creation and destruction.

It is important to not separate God & energy, otherwise, there will be questions about where did Energy come from which would prove Einstein wrong, obviously it cannot have come from anywhere if energy is such that it cannot be created nor destroyed, and then on the other hand where did then God come from, if he is also not creatable and destroyable, most religions say God is eternal

So as our understanding is limited, we or I don't know for sure how God & Energy are intertwined, but if neither God can be created then he must have somehow co-existed along with energy, neither of them being creatable or destructible, so they must be intertwined, they both must exist together as one.

An atom is the smallest whole particle, but has protons and neutron and electrons, and God knows what else, so it is one yet it is composed of different things to make it whole or one.
