They have a refugee crisis in Armenia now

Some say it’s ethnic cleansing ?

Anyone think they might be UN trained troops ?

I’m not saying they are, but it’s all ramping up now.

They're leaving Nagorno-Karabakh under duress, although they say the Azerbaijan army isn't forcing them out. I can't see how that situation can be resolved without Armenia giving up the region altogether. The West has been sod all help.

It's a complete and utter sh1t show and little wonder residents local to this get angry.

"In the past 48 hours, around 7,000 people have arrived in Lampedusa, which has always welcomed them with open arms," mayor Filippo Mannino told Italy's RTL 102.5 radio.

"However, we have now reached a point of no return and the island is in crisis," he said.

"Europe and the Italian state must step in immediately with a rapid support operation and swift transfer of people."

The island normally has a population of just over 6,000.

Hopefully the wink is directed at mayor Filippo as it's his quote not mine ;)
Not the first sentence, nor the last, those all yours and only yours.

Now compare the situation with UK, where about 20,000 have arrived so far this year, an island of about 66,000,000
About 124,000 have arrived on Lampedusa so far this year (that's six times the amount compared to UK), and Lampedusa has a population of just 6,000.

UK really have something to moan about.

I've said in other threads, I think the SNP briefly floated the idea of building one or two entirely new towns up here, with priority given to migrants for housing within them.
Yeah, you claimed that was what is needed. It was fake news, invented by you.

This is the nearest thing to it, and it wasn't to house migrants.

Let's build more New Towns to tackle our housing crisis

I'm not quite sure what side of the debate you're coming down on with this statement. My assertion is migration (legal or otherwise) isn't going away, if the experts are to be believed it's only going to increase, including climate migrants etc. Whether people agree or otherwise, the 'pull up the drawbridge' stance doesn't cut it for a number of reasons. There needs to be a better strategic approach to migration and how it's managed.

Note, none of the above indicates whether I'm pro, anti or sitting on the fence when it comes to folk entering the UK. That's almost irrelevant. Whatever we think, the fact remains we need a more effective and efficient way to deal with the situation than we presently have.
Creating conditions for them at home, so they don't need to migrate is the key objective.
Cutting Foreign Aid is counter productive. Spend it there, or spend it here accommodating asylum seekers.
Foreign Aid needs to go hand in hand with a stable economy, employment opportunites and a just and equal society.

Armaments and war machines are also counter productive. What is earned will be spent on asylum seekers.

Animal Farm is a beast fable, in the form of a satirical allegorical novella, by George Orwell, first published in England on 17 August 1945. It tells the story of a group of anthropomorphic farm animals who rebel against their human farmer, hoping to create a society where the animals can be equal, free, and happy.

We had this novel read to us at Primary school.
Never really grasped the underlying message.
But felt sorry for the loyal cart horse that got sent to the knackers yard.
Maybe it was metaphor for the NHS or something.
Apart from that its a great story for kids.
Vinty is plagiarising again.

I hope you are paying them for their words.

Strange how it's all young men isn't it ...
If you were being persecuted, say for your politics, your religion, your sexuality or for not joining the army, what would be the point of sending the women and children on a very hazardous journey?
