Its just a book?

yes twitter/X or whatever or DIYNot even.

Desecration is not merely the destruction of something, it can be showing no respect of the elements regarded sacred or holy.

People can criticise and debunk religion by argument itself. I don't support ripping pages out of the bible and shouting "this is boll@x", which is just looking for trouble.
It is indeed, perhaps writing a book called The Satanic Verses, is also looking trouble.
No fan of religion, but not the sort of person that wants to go round destroying, anything.

Can I not say believing in religion is like believing in fairies ?

if I say the text which says XYZ is sacred and holy, and you "prove" XYZ is wrong, isn't that a form of showing no respect?

You think you can't disagree?

It's different to ripping a book up on video

You understand that someone (a labour MP and supported by his Labour PM) is proposing new laws?

Do you think it should be illegal to rip up a "holy" book (that you own) and upload it to YouTube or whatever?

Should it be illegal to rip up any book?

Noseall also pretends not to see the difference.

I assume you both support the reintroduction of blasphemy laws then?

And this....
"...What they are trying to say is - its not an offence to stir up dislike for a person, be mean, rude etc.. but if its based on race or religion (or lack of religion) then it become an offence..."
It is funny how you randomly quote things and say - this proves X, when it does nothing of the sort. yes hatred of people not good, destruction of your own book, not illegal.

Do you want that changed?

Labour MP Tahir Ali has advocated for blasphemy laws during Prime Minister’s Questions.

The MP for Birmingham Hall Green and Moseley asked Keir Starmer if he would “commit to introducing measures to prohibit the desecration of all religious texts and the prophets of the Abrahamic religions”. Speaking in the Commons, Ali added that “November marks Islamophobia awareness month,” and that “last year the United Nations Human Rights Council adopted a resolution condemning the desecration of religious texts, including the Quran, despite opposition from the previous government.”

The Prime Minister replied that the Government is “committed to tackling all forms of hatred and division”, including Islamophobia and antisemitism. Ali said that “mindless desecration only serves to fuel division and hatred,” with the Prime Minister adding: “desecration is awful.”
