Jaguar combi boiler

Hello,

Posted this last night but thought I would re-post to a (hopefully) larger Sunday audience.

I have a problem with a Jaguar combi boiler which has stopped heating the water when the hot tap is operated.

The instructions say to look at the cold water filter or flow regulator (plastic 'o' ring) is not clogged.

Any ideas anyone?

I had this problem on a Glowworm combi boiler - when the tap was opened the small diaphram on the DHW sense switch wasnt operating properly so the boiler wasn't told it needed to turn on the burners.

It then progressed to sticking on so while it would heat the water, when the water was turned off the boiler remained on and went into an overheat mode.

I have since done some searching on this site and found a couple of refernces to the diapraghm. One reply refers to the diapraghm being available from the plumb centre.

I'm sure I can get this sorted by myself as I'm an ex-tradesman.

Worth checking the switch/diaphram before going out and buying a replacement - mine cost a couple of quid from a local plumb center.

If you get someone to turn the tap on and off and listen carefully inside the boiler you can usually hear it turning on and off. If you hear nothing when the hot tap is turned on and off then this would be the first place I'd check.

It certainly sounds like a failed diverter valve.

A relatively easy job for a competent DIYer.

There appears to be no sound coming out of the boiler when the tap is opened.

I'll check out the price of a divertor valve tom.

It would usually only be the diaphragm in the diverter valve which can be chamged on its own.

Can be other things though!

The diapragm was indeed split and the part cost £5.25.

Bit fiddly but job done.

On the divertor valve picbits.

With it being split the actuator was not being pushed forward.
