Just been and had a look and his dpc he is laying is offset so doesn't go all the way through the leaf. About 10mm is not covered. He said this is so he can get a level for next course otherwise he will likely get a step. Surely this is not right?
Below damp we are using bricks as this will still be seen etc.Doesn’t look right to me but I’m no expert. Why are you using decent bricks and having them pointed if you are having it rendered inside and out?
I went and had a good look about. Nothings level, he's used two different bricks on on of the corners! He's got a none brick bond that you will see. My base was level within 3mm and now he is out 25mm. His dpc isn't sat right. The internal dpc is 75mm higher than the house dpc. Can't let him continue.
Gonna tell him to stop working in the morning. I would tell him now but he's got tools to collect.
What should I be paying him? I don't know how much I'm gonna rip down yet.
How did this turn out? Can you post an update?
He hasnt bonded the bricks courses at all. almost no overlap.
Was this an eastern european ?
Nope guy from the UK. This bit was hidden on the inner leaf below floor level so didn't see it till I knocked down but still totally not on.He hasnt bonded the bricks courses at all. almost no overlap.

Just careless sloppy work. He had all the tools seemed to know what he was talking about, looked like he had half decent technique but just not caring and no attention to detail. Too much yapping, smoking and being on phone.Or blind?

I was amazed how the cement popped so easily if the bricks and blocks. Was still softish. So can reuse most stuff. Prob need to get about 30 more bricks. So not really lost out. Found a new bricky, just waiting for him to be available. Lots of other things to do so I can wait. You've done the right thing to start again. Not really wasted to much materials. When its finished you will see this as a little blip and very insignificant.
