Kitchen sink blockage (Ed.)

The dishwasher hose is on the far rightand is under the main sink and a 'baffle' is between the big sink and half sink in the T

You need to change the route of the hose so it loops UP to the underside of the worktop.

This prevents dirty water from the sink running into it and lying stagnant in the hose and dishwasher.

well you might be right but at the moment it is flushing enough dirty water through from the big sink and that means the big sink smells fresh -wont this just move the smell to another place?

We're trying to identify and correct pockets of stagnant water and grime.

i understand but wont moving the pipe just move the problem along to other side of the T ?

Not if there is stagnant water in the dishwasher hose

It is not a rare problem

the dishwasher is in regular use with hot water and no smells in it why would the water be stagnant? If it is the hose then moving the hose to the fitting other side of the T will just make the big sink smell instead of the little one surely? There is no other fitting we can see where we could do otherwise )o: We'll take the hose off tomorrrow and empty it but it doesnt square with the problem smell only happening when we put hot water into the half sink -why would that be?

If the DW hose allows any sink water back down it you get the stagnant smell back up .
