Who's asking for that? Steve from Essex who used to fix cars and train students is of no fùcking use to even the best of hackers.
Good enough information for the police to follow up a self-confessed criminal.
All they have to do is to check on the register of recently retired MOT testers in your location, named Steve from Essex.
That'll narrow it down a bit.
You've also provided a photo.

There's so much animosity flying around on this forum, all it takes is a phone call to a friend.

And he's comfortable with that. It's you and Carman who are desperate to remain as anonymous as possible. Something to hide?

Yes, for JOINING a forum if it were made law to give to the forum owners not for every Tom dick or Harry to see. Just so that people have an idea of who they are talking to, I can’t see what harm it would be if I knew your first name, what county you lived in and especially for a diy forum, what you did for a living so that people could ask a mechanic car questions, an electrician electrical questions a plumber plumbing questions etc etc. or do you think those general pieces of information are far to personal?
One would need to have confidence that the data would be secure.
Perhaps we should disclose our criminal history so others would know we're honest people.

Don’t care. In conversation I could call you Fred, I could think you have a similar interest in London events and I would come to you for car advice and not central heating advice.

If you were having a conversation with a real person you wouldn’t give out your driving licence number, passport, ni etc but you would tell them your name, where you came from and what you did for a living if asked.

Hi, I’m Steve, what’s your name?
Not telling you.
Do you live round here?
Not telling you.
What do you do for a living?
Not telling you.
Fùck off then and talk to someone else.
You have a history of collecting and weaponising people's personal details. No way would I disclose anything, especially.to you.

You and Carman are so desperate to remain anonymous, it does beg a few questions. Something to hide?

Never asked anyone in my life for I D before engaging in a conversation. Don’t be stupid.
But you have when the discussion doesn't go to your liking, so that you can weaponise the information.

Applies everywhere and anywhere. You couldn’t even get a library ticket without giving it out and if you think it’s safe wherever you have given your details out, you’re deluded. Wasn’t it you only a week or so ago who was saying how many countries you been to this year so far? How'd you do that without giving your name, address, email, phone number, D.O.B., passport and payment details? Do tell.
There's data collection and retention laws.
You can only collect that which is required.
In addition you cannot keep what is not required nor for longer than for why it is required.

it isn't at Mottie's whim because he wants to weaponise people's personal data.

For joining, yes. That would be my suggestion. Id give it if it was compulsory as there would be certain legal requirements to keep it safe - data protection act for a start. Would keep every known troll away who hides behind their screen. I had a DITY to keep data protected when I was dealing with vulnerable students. Everyone that processes data has to. It’s the law.
And you showed those vulnerable students how commit fraud.

I'm fully content with using real names, as long as it applies to everyone.
But seriously, how may members do you think the site would lose?
The racist, homophobes, etc would all be identified or identifiable. They'll be out of work, unless they could find an employer willing to employ a closet or self-confessed racist. Not to mention the self-confessed criminals.
Bring it on, I say.

There's several DIY sites, but one wants you to prove your ID before you can post a question.
You've obviously given this issue loads of thought.
