If you want people to be identified then it needs serious information. Proof of name, address, credit card or bank account, ni number, passport number, driver licence number etc. All useful to hackers.
Who's asking for that? Steve from Essex who used to fix cars and train students is of no fùcking use to even the best of hackers.

Didn’t give my credit card, bank account details, ni number, passport number, driving licence number to join a forum. I take it you’ve never bought anything online, bought or sold anything on eBay or Amazon, took out a phone contract, booked a flight or hired a car before then?
So you don't want proof of ID on a forum then?

I thought you were arguing for it ?

Make your mind up, I'm struggling to keep up with your twisting.

Amazon etc, never given out any proof of address. Just a credit card that agrees to the address. That's not identity checks

I’ve always said, it should be a legal requirement, just like opening a bank account, for I.D. To be produced to join up to a forum. Would cut out 99.999% of incitement, scammers and trolls at a stroke. Just imagine those that would have to drop out of this forum!
Did you not say this ?

My name is Fred. I live at no 1 acacia avenue, London. I'm an mot tester

Is that ID , just made up ?

Yes, for JOINING a forum if it were made law to give to the forum owners not for every Tom dick or Harry to see. Just so that people have an idea of who they are talking to, I can’t see what harm it would be if I knew your first name, what county you lived in and especially for a diy forum, what you did for a living so that people could ask a mechanic car questions, an electrician electrical questions a plumber plumbing questions etc etc. or do you think those general pieces of information are far to personal?

Don’t care. In conversation I could call you Fred, I could think you have a similar interest in London events and I would come to you for car advice and not central heating advice.

If you were having a conversation with a real person you wouldn’t give out your driving licence number, passport, ni etc but you would tell them your name, where you came from and what you did for a living if asked.

Hi, I’m Steve, what’s your name?
Not telling you.
Do you live round here?
Not telling you.
What do you do for a living?
Not telling you.
Fùck off then and talk to someone else.

Never heard of hacking?

You give information as you want. I won't. This is a forum not a government or bank site.

How secure do you think sites like this are? Understand what's involved in keeping detailed information secure?

You're just dreaming not thinking

And it's made up so you've been had. Its that simple. If you want ID it needs to be proven

Never asked anyone in my life for I D before engaging in a conversation. Don’t be stupid.

Applies everywhere and anywhere. You couldn’t even get a library ticket without giving it out and if you think it’s safe wherever you have given your details out, you’re deluded. Wasn’t it you only a week or so ago who was saying how many countries you been to this year so far? How'd you do that without giving your name, address, email, phone number, D.O.B., passport and payment details? Do tell.

You don't actually understand your own posts.
