Of course your correct but make the effort the rest of the year.

It's not ideal but neither is me clearing other people's rubbish before I go to work.

Not sure how that is relevant, but no, I haven't.
Putting bins out in the evening is not breaking the law.

That's great I wish ours did but on the other hand it is down to each and everyone of us to make sure our bins are secure in the first place.

Use a Smart lock that can unlock itself when it detects the bin vehicle has arrived.

The bin vehicle has a GPS tracker so the depot know where it is. The Smart lock just has to detect the tracker signal or the depot can send unlocking signals to bins that are close to the vehicle's reported location,

Or some similar over engineered method.

We have the technology so let us use it.
