Needless to say (given the context), I was talking about writing 'text' (documents, e-mails, forum posts etc.). When writing software then, like you, I use ('multi-level') indentation extremely copiously.
In fact, with the programming language I most commonly use (as with a good few others), only a very small minority of lines of code are not indented, since that it usually only the case for the first and last lines of a 'block' of code. I've just looked at a bit of code I was working on this afternoon. It has a total of 4,939 lines of code, with a maximum of 5 levels of indentation, and only 222 of the lines (about 4.5%) are not indented at all.
