Linear manifold 22mm x 2- 15mm

At long last I bit the bullet and re-plumbed the radiators in the bedroom and the lounge below the bedroom. In 2011 they were plumbed in 15 mm originally as a quick fix to get the cottage heated. The 15 mm drops to the lounge were T'ed from the 22 mm with the T's partly below floor level. It worked but was far from "elegant" The large hole hacked in the flooring was needed to get the two T's in place.

After installing a radiator in the second bedroom using 13 metres of 8 mm ( 6 flow and 7 return ) and finding the flow was more than adequate the use of 8 mm for the lounge and main bedrooms radiators was going to work. The construction of walls and floors made the use of 15 mm impossible.

Using Pegler Linear manifolds to take the 22 mm down to four 8 mm pipes and using just 2 of the four pipes made the task very easy.

The 22 mm flow and return are above the floor in the bedroom due to differing floor levels between rooms.

The soldering is not the best
One of the problems of living in an old house is that a ton of other issues crop up meaning every job turns into 5 jobs!

I too live in an old house (130 years) and laid some ply in the kitchen for tiling recently, but the floorboards underneath were riddled with nails and half were rotten(one of the previous occupants was obviously nail happy). in the end I replaced all the floor boards.... but when I lifted the floor boards I saw the nightmare that was the electric cables (most of which had long been disconnected)... but one of the live cables had a nail going right through the middle!... so had to do some rewiring too (+ more things)

Certainly nothing to be proud of. One day I might be as skilled.
It wasn't posted out of pride, merely to show the DIYers and people thinking of using a plumber that alternatives to "standard" pipe work with Tees and Elbows do exist.
Perhaps I should have looked for 8 mm press fit couplings to avoid the need to solder.

I fooking hope that's being boxed in! Even then.
Yes it is being "boxed in"

4 1/2 years to achieve that!
There were many other things with higher priority that needed to be done.

Did it cost £84?
No, slightly less than that for the pair.

4 1/2 years of googling and thats the result.
It had to be a search engine as I haven't the space for a complete set of plumbing brochures in a book case..

The bottom line is that linear manifolds do the job that is required.

Bullet manifolds are available in various sizes 22mm> 8mm

Now you tell me. :( It would have been cheaper,

The worry I had was making the soldered joint on to the 22 mm pipe at the same time as making ( or not disturbing ) the soldered joints on the 8 mm pipes at the manifold. The ready made Pegler removed that worry.

Could have mailed a few bullet's to you but that sounds illegal.

Solder in sequence is the key.

its actually really easy using the bullet manifolds, as long as there is no strain on any of the pipes just solder the 22mm, first and once that has run then dip onto the outlets and they will run no problem

@The Real Pin 5 Dan I worked on a system once and the Gas supply was 54mm in what looked like Aluminium or stainless and was pressfit, you could rotate the fittings when pressed and wouldn't leak, any Idea what that system is called ?
